Rapid Rail Fare: Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated to the country a 17 km long section of India’s first ‘regional rapid transit system’ (RRTS) on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor. From Saturday (October 21), the facilities of the country’s first rapid rail have started for the common people. Of the 82.5 km long Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor, services on the first 17 km long section started at 6 am and will continue till 11 pm.
Since the introduction of Rapid Rail, the journey from Meerut to Delhi has become much easier. Till now people had to travel for hours to reach Delhi, but now after the launch of this service, they will be able to travel to Delhi in minutes. However, the entire corridor has not yet started. In such a situation, let us know the route of the section of the corridor that has been made operational so far and how much fare people will have to pay.
On which route is the Rapid Rail running?
There are currently five stations on the Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor, which include Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai and Duhai Depot stations. The distance from Sahibabad to Duhai depot station is 17 kilometers. Currently, Rapid Rail is going to run on these routes only. It takes 30 to 35 minutes to go from Sahibabad to Duhai depot by road. But this journey can be completed in just 12 minutes through rapid rail.
How much is the rapid rail fare?
Standard class fare in RapidX starts from Rs 20. Premium class fare starts from Rs 40. The ticket for going from Sahibabad to Duhai depot in standard class is Rs 50, while for premium class, passengers will have to pay Rs 100. Tickets are free for children whose height is less than 90 cm. Tickets can be purchased just like the metro. Facility of counter and ticket vending machine will be available at the station.
What facilities is the train equipped with?
Comfortable seats have been fitted in the train. Apart from large windows, there is also ample space for passengers to travel while standing. Luggage storage facility has also been provided to the passengers. Apart from this, passengers will also be able to charge their laptop/mobile. Map option is also given. The train has the facility to travel 1700 passengers at a time. The premium coach has facilities like reclining seat, coat hook, magazine holder and footrest.
What is the speed of the train?
The speed of RapidX is 180 km per hour. But it will be run at a speed of 160 km per hour only. The train looks exactly like a bullet train. Long distances can be covered comfortably by train. With the introduction of this train, people will no longer have to face the hassles of buses. This train has been named ‘Namo Bharat’. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri himself has given this information.
