Ratan Tata: Maharashtra government recommended giving 'Bharat Ratna' to Ratan Tata

Earlier, in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, tributes were paid to the veteran industrialist. Ratan Tata died on Wednesday night at a hospital in Mumbai. A statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office said that a condolence motion was passed during the meeting.

The Maharashtra Cabinet has passed a resolution demanding the conferment of the country’s highest civilian honour ‘Bharat Ratna’ to the late Ratan Tata. The resolution has demanded the Central Government to recommend the award of Bharat Ratna to veteran industrialist Ratan Tata. In fact, in a meeting today, the Maharashtra Cabinet has decided to propose the name of industrialist Ratan Tata for the Bharat Ratna award. The Maharashtra Cabinet also passed a condolence motion today.

The Cabinet also passed a resolution requesting the Centre to confer ‘Bharat Ratna’ on the late industrialist. Tata has been awarded the country’s second highest civilian award ‘Padma Vibhushan’.

What was said in the proposal?

The proposal said that entrepreneurship is an effective way for the development of society and by setting up new industries, the country can be taken on the path of progress and development. For this, patriotism and honest spirit is also needed for the upliftment of the society. We lost a visionary leader who was committed to the country and society. Tata’s role in the field of industry and in the upliftment of society was unique. He faced all the challenges by following clean business management with high ethics, transparency and discipline. He created a distinct identity for the Tata Group and the country on the global stage.

He will always be remembered for his contribution

According to the proposal, Ratan Tata will always be remembered for his determination after the 26/11 terrorist attacks and his contribution of Rs 1,500 crore to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for the fight against the Kovid-19 epidemic. He opened all the hotels of the Tata Group for patients suffering from corona virus. The Cabinet pays tribute to Tata on behalf of the people of Maharashtra. We stand with the Tata Group in this hour of grief.
