Ration card is issued in three types

White Card: It is issued to those whose annual income is more than 1 lakh.
Orange Card: It is issued to those whose annual income is between 50 thousand to 1 lakh.
Yellow Card: It is issued for those whose annual income is less than 15 thousand. It is issued for BPL holders.

It is mandatory to be an Indian citizen to get a ration card.

To transfer ration card: To transfer ration card from one state to another, you have to visit the necessary food office in your jurisdiction. For this, you will have to fill a written application, along with address proof and application fee will have to be submitted. After that the process of transfer will start.

Three passport size photographs of the applicant
As Residence Proof: You can use these documents to show the residence proof of the applicant.

  2. Latest telephone bill in the name of the applicant
  3. Latest LPG receipt in the name of the applicant
  4. Valid Driving License
  5. Valid Passport
  6. Voter ID Card
  7. Latest Tax Paid Receipt if you have your own house
  8. List of Electrol Rolls
  9. If you live in a rented house, the latest rent receipt can also be used. The name of the owner and full postal address should be clearly visible in the receipt.
  10. Apart from this, other documents which can prove the applicant’s residence.

If you have applied for a ration card and already have it at a second place, then after submitting the surrender certificate from the first place, the ration card will be issued at a new level on the same day. The fee for issuing a new ration card is Rs 5 for BPL card, Rs 10 for APL card. There is a fee of Rs 45 for issuance of computerized card. Every family living in all the states of the country can get a ration card made. The head of the family and the spouse can submit the application.
