Food and Supplies Minister Imran Hussain on Friday said that the Delhi government will start a door-to-door survey from next month to find out the inactive ration cards for the last two-three months. According to the officials of the Food Department, ration cards that are inactive for three consecutive months can be cancelled.
Ration card holders face many problems regarding adding and deleting the name of the new member in the card. Which they are often worried about. But you should know that many facilities related to ration card are available with the kotedar only. In this, Aadhar link in ration card, linking of PAN card and other improvements are included. But even if you want to do it online, you can do it. If a member of the family has died, then you can get the name removed from the ration card online or by visiting the food department’s office.
Name can be removed from ration card like this
To remove the name of the ration card holder after death, one has to login to the ration website of that state or can also contact the concerned ration distribution center. But if you want to make changes online, then go to the website and click on the option to change the ration card. There you will get the option to cut the name after death. After which you can apply for the deduction of name by giving the information of the requested document.
Apart from this, name change can also be done through offline method, you just have to go to the food department office and give a copy of Aadhar card along with death certificate. Along with the photo copy of the ration card, an application will have to be submitted to the Food Inspector. Otherwise, you can also take help from Kotdar for this.
If the light is not taken for three months, the card will be canceled

Inactive ration cards are those in which the beneficiary does not take ration at a subsidized rate from the fair price shops for three consecutive months.
Giving information, he said that from next month (November) we will conduct door-to-door survey and check the beneficiaries who are not taking ration for two-three months. We will check whether the person has gone to his hometown or is ill. In such genuine cases, the ration card will not be deducted. If the card is inactive and the person is not present or has left Delhi for good, we will cancel such (inactive) card and add new ones.”
Correct ration cards will not be canceled
The minister also said that if someone has gone to his hometown and therefore could not come to get ration, then he will be given a concession. Officials said that after the survey is completed, the department will have accurate data about the inoperative cards. Once we have accurate data, the department will start the process of cancellation of inactive ration cards. After canceling the cards, the government is planning to include other applicants who were kept in wait due to exhaustion of Delhi’s quota of 72.77 lakh ration cards.
