Ration Card Rules: The central government runs many schemes for the citizens of the country. There are different types of schemes for different people. The Government of India provides ration at low price and free of cost to the poor and needy people under the National Food Security Act. For which these people need a ration card.
Without this, the benefit of the free ration scheme of the government cannot be availed. The supply department recently issued a notification for e-KYC to ration card holders. The last date for which is 30 September. After that people’s ration cards will be cancelled. Apart from this, if you fill ITR. Even then the ration card can be cancelled. How can you avoid this. Ration card cancelled after filing ITR
Recently many ration cards were cancelled in Ghaziabad. Actually these card holders were in the income tax category. Due to this about 13000 ration cards were cancelled. Many of these ration card holders are now giving affidavit that they are not income tax payers. They had taken loan for children’s education, for bike and for some other thing. Due to which they had to file ITR. Their income is less than 3 lakhs. Therefore their ration card should not be cancelled. So many people have said that they have neither paid income tax nor filed ITR. They do not know how their name came in this list.

This is how you can avoid this problem
Actually the District Supply Department had prepared a list of ration card holders who filed income tax returns. In which all these ration card holders were re-verified. There were 26930 people in the list. Out of that 16271 were ineligible. Out of these, ration of 13000 people has been cancelled. Only 1036 people have been found eligible.
The government has set some eligibility criteria for making ration card. In which the annual income of people living in rural areas should not be more than 2 lakh rupees. Whereas the income of people living in urban areas should not be more than 3 lakh rupees.
If you live in urban area and your income is less than 3 lakh rupees. And you have filed income tax return for some reason. Then you do not need to worry. You can go to the District Supply Department. Submit an affidavit. In which you can tell about the reason for filing income tax return. And you can also submit your income certificate again.
