The Central Government has challenged the Delhi High Court’s order of September 27 in the Supreme Court, which paved the way for the implementation of the Delhi Government’s door-to-door ration scheme. A three-member bench headed by Justice L Nageswara Rao adjourned Tuesday’s hearing on the request of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the central government.
The Solicitor General requested the bench to adjourn the hearing till tomorrow but senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for the Delhi government, cited some personal difficulty for Wednesday. On this, the bench listed the matter for November 12.
On Singhvi’s request, Justice Rao said in a light-hearted manner, “I understand the difficulty. Dr. Singhvi does not want to be in the court tomorrow. In fact, Justice Rao had indicated that Singhvi was trying to avoid the physical court.
