RBI On KYC Updation: Banking sector regulator Reserve Bank of India has warned citizens about the fraud being done in the name of KYC updation. RBI said that in recent times many customers have become victims of fraud under the guise of updating KYC. Many such complaints have come to light. In such a situation, RBI has advised the citizens to be careful and cautious to avoid losses and protect themselves from such frauds.

RBI issued a press release explaining how people are being cheated in the name of updating KYC. In such cases, to commit fraud, the customers first receive a message through phone call, SMS or email. Through which an attempt is made to influence the customers by disclosing their personal information. Apart from this, login details of their account are asked or they are asked to install unauthorized or unverified app on their mobile phone by sending a link through message.

In such messages, if the customer does not comply, an attempt is made to show undue haste or pressure is put on the customer by threatening to block, freeze or close the account. When customers share their important personal information or login details, the fraudster gets access to the account and then commits the fraud.

In cases of financial cyber fraud, RBI has advised citizens to immediately lodge a complaint on the National Cyber ​​Crime Reporting Portal ( www.cybercrime.gov.in ) or by dialing the Cyber ​​Crime Helpline November 1930. RBI has also issued guidelines for the citizens on what to do and what not to do.

  • In case of any incident of cyber fraud, immediately inform the bank or financial institution.
