ATM Card: These days the number of cyber crimes is increasing rapidly. A small mistake can empty your bank account. When it comes to ATM cards and credit cards, you should be extra cautious. These cards are directly linked to your bank account. There are some numbers written on it, which should be erased immediately.

If you have a bank account, then you must have got a debit card i.e. ATM card along with it. In such a situation, many people must be using debit card or credit card. ATM card should be used carefully. A small mistake can cause huge loss. Anyway, in today’s era, the number of cyber criminals is increasing rapidly. In such a situation, one mistake can empty your entire bank account. Therefore, there is a need to be careful about everything related to the bank account. Especially when it comes to ATM card or credit card, the caution increases even more.

Actually, 16 digit numbers are written on the front of the ATM card. Name and expiry date are also written in many cards. But, a three digit number is written on the back of the card. Many people do not pay attention to this three digit number. But it is very useful and special attention has to be paid to it.

Delete CVV number in ATM card

A 3 digit number is written on the back of ATM card or credit card. This is called Card Verification Value (CVV) number. This number is required for making payment anywhere. Verification is not possible without this number. In such a situation, if this number along with the card information falls into the hands of a fraudster, then your bank account can be emptied. This is the reason why RBI has said that the CVV number written on your card should always be kept hidden or if possible, note it down somewhere and erase it from the card. So that if the card is ever lost or falls into the wrong hands, there will be no financial loss.

Do not save your ATM card on any platform

To avoid online fraud, one should avoid saving ATM card in any platform. Let us tell you that whenever you make online payment anywhere, you are asked whether you want to save the card details to make quick payment, then you should not do this. The reason for this is that if the platform is not safe then there is a risk of getting cheated.

Free insurance is available on ATM card

If you have used the ATM card of any bank for more than 45 days, then you can avail free insurance facility. This includes both accident insurance and life insurance. Now you can claim insurance in both these situations. The amount has been fixed according to the category of the card.

SBI gives a cover of Rs 4 lakh (death on air) and Rs 2 lakh (non-air) to its Gold ATM card holders. Whereas, it gives a cover of Rs 10 lakh (death on air) and Rs 5 lakh (non-air) to its Premium card holders. Many banks including HDFC Bank, ICICI, Kotak Mahindra Bank provide different amounts of cover on their debit cards. Some debit cards provide free accidental insurance coverage up to Rs 3 crore. This insurance coverage is given for free. No additional documents are asked for by the bank.
