RBI made BBPS mandatory for credit card payments, now 15 banks have joined

Credit Card Users: Now there is good news for credit card users. Paying credit card bills through third-party apps has become more convenient

Credit Card Users : There is now good news for credit card users. Paying credit card bills through third-party apps has become more convenient. Major credit card providers such as HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and Punjab National Bank (PNB) have linked their systems to the Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS) to facilitate payments through these apps. The RBI had earlier directed that all credit card payments should be processed through BBPS from July 1. However, many banks have still not enabled BBPS for credit card bill payments through third party apps.

So far, 15 banks have activated bill payment on BBPS. These include ICICI Bank, SBI Cards, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bank of Baroda Cards, IndusInd Bank etc. A total of 34 banks are allowed to issue credit cards. Below is the list of live banks on BBPS till July 15.

BBPS is an integrated system of bill payments, which provides online bill payment service to the customers. It is an interoperable platform for bill payments. The system is managed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). It is a one-stop ecosystem for all bill payments that provides an interoperable and easy- anytime- anywhere bill payment service to all customers across India with certainty, reliability and security of transactions. Bharat BillPay transactions can be initiated through payment channels such as Internet, Internet Banking, Mobile, Mobile Banking, Mobile Wallets, Kiosks, ATMs, Bank Branches, Agents by simply recognizing the Bharat BillPay logo.
