The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has recently launched the Integrated Ombudsman Scheme. This is a kind of ‘One Nation-One Ombudsman’ system, which aims to strengthen the grievance redressal system from customers against banks, non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) and payment service operators.

This is a kind of ‘One Nation-One Ombudsman’ system, which aims to strengthen the grievance redressal system from customers against banks, non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) and payment service operators.

Know where to complain

You can file a complaint with the Ombudsman in several ways. To register complaint online, visit the website https://cms.rbi.org.in. Or you can also register your complaint through email at CRPC@rbi.org.in or by calling toll free number 14448. Apart from this, you can also send your complaint by filling the form and sending it to ‘Centralized Receipt and Processing Center’ set up by RBI in Chandigarh.

Copy of complaint to be uploaded

To register a complaint, on the CMS website of RBI, you need to verify your mobile number with OTP, then fill the personal information on the online form and select the institution against which the complaint is being filed. Enter the complaint details along with the date on which you first filed the complaint against that organization, then upload the complaint copy.

Must give this information

Provide card number/loan/bank account details to lodge complaint. Then select the category of complaint. For example, loans and advances or mobile banking. You can select any one option from the drop-down menu. Then select an appropriate sub-category. For example, if you have selected a complaint regarding fees charged in sub-category 1, then in the drop-down menu, you will need to select the reason for the complaint, such as credit card issue etc. Provide factual details of the complaint. Mention the amount of dispute and compensation sought (if any). View the complaint summary and then submit it. Download and save the PDF copy of the complaint for record keeping with you.
