Relief for GST taxpayers, penalty up to Rs 500 only for delay in return filing

The government has given big relief to GST taxpayers. Now there will be no penalty of more than Rs 500 for delay in filing sales returns on monthly and quarterly basis If there is a delay in filing GSTR-3B, then only a penalty of 500 rupees will be charged on each return. No more At present, this rule will remain in force till July 2020.

 



GST can be filed quarterly in the month or till the 20th of the month ends. According to the new announcement, on filing late returns from July 2017 to July 2020, every return will be fined only 500 rupees. But the return filing should be completed by September 30, 2020. According to the issued notification, if there is no liability on any GST taxpayers, then it will not take any fine on filing a return. If any kind of tax liability is incurred, then penalty of not more than Rs 500 will be imposed.

Silent tax return is possible with SMS 

 

If you have to file a clean return, then it is now possible through messages too. Taxpayers to file ‘Nil’ returns will be able to send the monthly and quarterly details ‘GSTR-1’ through SMS from the first week of July. From this, more than 12 lakh registered taxpayers will benefit. Right now taxpayers have to log in to their account on the shared portal every month or every quarter and after that, they have to file sales details form ‘GST Return-1’.
