Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswabhushan Harichandan has promulgated the Andhra Pradesh Public Employment (Regulation of Retirement Age) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2022. In fact, in the past, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had increased the salary of employees by 23.39 percent and on the other hand, the retirement age of government employees was increased from 60 to 62 years. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on January 21 approved a proposal to amend the Andhra Pradesh Public Employment (Regulation of Retirement Age) Act, 1984. This is the second time that the retirement age has been raised. Earlier the Act was amended in 2014, raising the retirement age from 58 to 60 years. This decision will benefit lakhs of employees.


According to media reports, the Andhra Pradesh government has issued an ordinance to increase the retirement age of state government employees from 60 years to 62 years with effect from January 1, 2022, i.e. those employees who are employed till December 31, 2021. Those who have retired, they will not be given its benefit. At the same time, those whose retirement age was to complete 60 years in January, now they can now take advantage of two more years. can. For example, if the minimum salary of an employee is Rs 18,000. He will get 18,000 times 24 equal to Rs 432,000 more.
