RFID system implemented at toll plazas
It is worth noting that earlier this year itself, orders were issued to the RFID system three times (June, August and September). South Corporation Mayor Mukesh Suryan said, ‘South Corporation has now completely banned specific commercial vehicles without RFID tags and insufficient recharge in the tags. Enforcement teams have been constituted for regular inspection of toll points, who are monitoring them regularly.
According to the mayor, action is being taken against the violators. The RFID system ensures that all commercial vehicles pay taxes and Environment Compensation Charges (ECC) through RFID tags and the payment is cashless.
How does an RFID tag work?
Commercial vehicles cannot enter the city in cashless mode without paying toll tax and ECC through RFID tags. RFID tags are placed on the windshields of vehicles. As soon as you cross the toll plaza, the money is automatically deducted from this tag.
According to Mayor Mukesh Suryan, to control pollution in Delhi, the Supreme Court has ordered the implementation of RFID system at all toll plazas in the city. Along with this, the court has also ordered to collect toll tax and ECC through this system. With this, vehicles can enter the city without any hassle.
