‘Ball of the century’ was thrown 29 years ago
Warne had reached England to play the Ashes series in May 29 years ago. On the second day of the first Test match of the series in Manchester, Warne had already given the very first ball of the spell a place in cricket history. At that time, England batsman Mike Gatting was playing after scoring four runs and when Warne took the ball in his hand, he bowled him on the first ball. It was such a ball that the ball, which fell far away from the batsman’s leg, took a sudden turn and went towards the off-stump, touching the outer edge of the first wicket and scattered the stumps.
