RRB: Railways has announced recruitment for about 9000 posts of Technician. Railway Recruitment Board has issued a notice saying that the notification for 9000 vacancies of Technician will be issued in the month of February itself.


Railways has opened the box of recruitments. After releasing the vacancy of Assistant Loco Pilot, now Railway Recruitment Board has announced the recruitment of about 9000 posts of Technician. Railway Recruitment Board has issued a notice saying that the notification for 9000 vacancies of Technician will be issued in the month of February itself. Interested candidates will be able to apply online during the months of March and April. Its Computer Based Examination (CBT) will be held in October and December 2024. The list of shortlisted candidates for document verification will be released in February 2025. An official said that about 9000 technician posts are vacant in various trades like Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Signal and Telecom. Railways has also said in the notice that it is planning to release the centralized employment notice for the next phase of technician recruitment in April 2025.

Candidates were protesting

It is noteworthy that at present the application process for recruitment to 5696 posts of ALP is going on. Earlier in 2018, Railways had recruited 64371 posts of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) and Technician. This time, due to less vacancy in ALP, candidates are continuously protesting. Especially in Bihar, opposition to the candidates was at its boiling point. After the candidates’ agitation, Railways had said that now the recruitment will be done every year. The recruitment process will be annual.

The application process will start after the release of the detailed release of Technician. Candidates willing to apply will be able to download the notification and apply by visiting the official website of their respective RRB zone. Candidates keep checking RRB website. In technician recruitment, qualification of 10th pass and ITI in related trade is sought. Or 10th pass and apprenticeship in related trade is also acceptable.

There will be a two-stage examination (First Stage CBT and Second Stage CBT) for recruitment to Technician posts. Only the candidates successful in First Stage CBT will be called for Second Stage CBT. There will be negative marking in both first and second stage. One third mark will be deducted for each wrong answer

First Stage CBT

The first stage computer based written examination will be of 1 hour in which 75 questions will be asked. To qualify the exam, unreserved category candidates will have to score 40%, OBC candidates will have to score 30%, SC will have to score 30% and ST candidates will have to score 25%. You will have to score minimum marks in this test otherwise you will be stopped here and cannot participate in the further process. In this you will be asked questions related to Maths, Reasoning, General Science, GK/Current Affairs.

Second Stage CBT

Candidates who qualify the first stage examination will be able to appear in the second stage. This exam will be of 2 hours 30 minutes. The paper will be divided into two parts. Part A and Part B.

Part A

You will get 90 minutes time for Part A and it will have 100 questions. To qualify this, unreserved category candidates will have to score 40%, OBC candidates will have to score 30%, SC will have to score 30% and ST candidates will have to score 25%. In Part A, questions related to Maths, Reasoning, General Science, GK/Current Affairs will be asked.
