Assam Government: Assam Government has approved many major decisions in the state cabinet meeting today. Under this, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has taken decisions on many matters. The government of Assam has taken some such decisions which can prove to be good for the local people during this festival season.

Decision to increase wages in both Brahmaputra and Barak valleys- CM

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that a decision has been taken to increase wages in both the Brahmaputra and Barak valleys from October 1. The state government has decided to increase the daily minimum wages of tea garden workers in Brahmaputra and Barak Valley to Rs 250 and Rs 228 respectively. In this way, in the cabinet meeting chaired by Himanta Biswa Sarma, the daily wages for the workers of these two tea valleys have been increased by Rs 18 per worker.

Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “The Assam Cabinet decided to increase the minimum daily wage of tea garden workers. In Brahmaputra Valley, the daily wage has been increased from Rs 232 to Rs 250 from October 1. In Barak Valley, tea garden workers will now be paid Rs 210. Instead of Rs 228 you will get Rs.

Garden management will have to give 20 percent bonus

The Chief Minister also said that the government has directed to give 20 percent bonus to the garden management for the upcoming Durga Puja festivals so that they can give good financial gift to their workers in the festive season. He said, “With immediate effect there will also be three percent reservation in government jobs for tea garden workers and tribal people.” This will mainly be for the non-creamy-layer.

Know about other decisions of Assam Cabinet

  • CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that 5 percent seats will be reserved in medical and engineering courses for students of classes 7-12 in government schools. This will attract students towards government institutions.
  • The Assam Cabinet has also decided to ban drinking water bottles up to 250 ml from Monday.
  • The Chief Minister also said that it has been decided to create Bajali district by dividing the existing Barpeta district.
