Samsung files patent for a ‘flying display device’ that will follow your eyes

0
For people who spend hours on a smart display device – such as a smartphone – this will come as a boon.

Global phone-making giant Samsung has filed a patent for a unique drone device with the US Patent and Trademark Office that may do away with the need to hold the devices in the hands while using them.

The ‘flying display device’, as per the patent filed back in early 2016, was approved recently on February 13, 2018.

The rather interesting part about the device is that it is capable of detecting various types of user information like the position, face and the eyes of the user.

Based on the face and eyes of the user the device, as per the patent document, can change its direction and its angle making sure it faces the user while on the move.

The display device will be carried by drones and it will also include a voice recognition and vibration system. Further, it will have an integrated gyro sensor, an accelerometer, an obstacle detection unit and a motion sensor.

The original patent was filed in Korea back in April 2015.

For people who spend hours on a smart display device – such as a smartphone – this will come as a boon. This will prevent people addicted to their smartphones and help them stand or sit upright as the flying display device can be set to face the user at a parallel position thereby helping deal with the modern spine ailment – texting neck – which is slowly becoming a cause of worry for a lot of people across the world.

Samsung has filed a number of patents lately that may change the way people use smartphones in the future.

For instance, a patent filing last month showed that its yet-to-be-announced bendable phone will have 3D Touch system.

Another patent by Samsung seen online showed a double-sided display.
