Quoting local media reports, Gulf News reported that Jeddah Municipality had raided a restaurant in a residential building. It was found here that samosas and other things were being cooked in these dirty toilets. Various types of snacks were being made in this restaurant and some of these were being used to make toilets and the dirty area around it.
According to the secret informer, this was happening for more than 30 years. The restaurant used to prepare breakfast, food etc. in these washrooms. Worse still, there were food items, insects and caterpillars were found on meat and cheese. Some items were being used till two years old. Action is now being taken under the strict laws of Saudi Arabia. After the raids here, the officials said that there was open violation of many types of laws in the restaurant. The employees here did not have a health card. The residence law was also not followed through the restaurant. For this the restaurant has been closed.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time that a restaurant in Saudi Arabia has been closed due to unsanitary and pathogenic conditions. According to Gulf News, in January, a famous Shawarma restaurant in Jeddah was also closed after rats were seen wandering around and eating meat. There are many reports in the local media about the dilapidated condition of the restaurant and the snacks made in the toilet. People have expressed their displeasure on this restaurant on social media as well. Angry social media users are giving different reactions. They have demanded strict action on the restaurant. At the same time, Saudi officials have said that now information about restaurants etc. is being taken by conducting continuous raids. Teams have been deployed for inspection. According to the municipality, action was taken at 43 places and 26 have been closed amidst rapid raids and immediate action.
