According to SBI, if a customers fails to link PAN with Aadhaar by Sept 30, 2021, the identification card & its facilities will be rendered inactive.
The State Bank of India (SBI) had already intimated its account holders about the last date for linking PAN card to Aadhaar card. The country’s largest lender has already intimated all its customers and account holders to link their PAN cars with Aadhaar by September 30. The bank said in a tweet that the customers must do this to enjoy a seamless banking service.
“We advise our customers to link their PAN with Aadhaar to avoid any inconvenience and continue enjoying a seamless banking service,” the bank tweeted.
According to the SBI, if a customers fails to link PAN with Aadhaar card by September 30, 2021, the identification card and its facilities will be rendered inoperative/inactive.
As per Section 139AA of the Income Tax Act, 1961, every person who has been allotted a PAN card and also has an Aadhaar card is required to intimate their Aadhaar number to the Income Tax authorities. The Act reads, “If a person fails to intimate the Aadhaar number, the permanent account number allotted to such person shall be made inoperative after the notified date in the manner as may be provided by rules.”
Here’s how to link the PAN to Aadhaar card
1) Go to the income tax department’s e-filing portal on the official website.
2) Click on the Link Aadhaar section on the left.
3) Fill in your PAN number, Aadhaar number and name.
4) Fill in the CAPTCHA code given.
5) Click at the ‘Link Aadhaar’ option and your PAN-Aadhaar linking process is done. Your name, date of birth, and gender will be validated by the income Tax Department against your Aadhaar details and after this the linking will be complete successfully.
