SBI alerts crores of customers, did you receive such an SMS on your mobile?

SBI Alert: State Bank of India (SBI) has alerted its crores of customers. SBI Bank said that customers have been alerted about receiving many fake messages. Customers are being warned about fake reward point redemption notifications.

Customers are being warned about fake reward point redemption notifications. SBI gives points to its customers for corporate loyalty programs for regular transactions done through different banking channels. The value of each point is equal to 25 paise. Many users are not able to use their points for months. Hackers can use this remaining balance for their benefit. The bank has advised customers not to click on any link sent through SMS or WhatsApp nor download any application or file.

In response to the increasing incidents of spam and fraud, SBI has asked its customers to be cautious. Cybercriminals have started adopting a new method to cheat customers. They lure customers to use reward points through fake APK links. The bank has said that it never sends links on SMS or WhatsApp. Customers have been alerted to be cautious about this.

For those who don’t know, APK means Android Application Package. APK is an application file that is used to send and install on a device with Android operating system. According to SBI’s post, SBI never sends links or unwanted APKs on SMS or WhatsApp. SBI also requests its customers not to click on any such link or download files about which they do not have any information.

How to use SBI reward points

According to the SBI FAQ page, users enroll in the SBI Rewards program. You can redeem your SBI points at https://www.rewardz.sbi/. To use the portal, you need to register first. Here’s how you do it:

Step 1: Go to https://www.rewardz.sbi/ and select the New Users option.

Step 2: Then enter the SBI Rewards Customer ID.

Step 3: Enter the One-Time Password (OTP) issued on your registered mobile number.

Step 4: Verify your personal details and use reward points. Reward points can be used for malls, movie tickets, mobile/DTH recharge, airline tickets, hotel reservations.
