SBI: State Bank of India always keeps its customers aware through messages. Even a day before, SBI had sent messages to crores of its customers and told them easy ways to avoid fraud. Many times fraud messages come in the name of the bank and your account gets emptied within a few seconds.
These shortcodes are the identity of the bank’s message-
SBI said in a message that whatever messages will come from SBI, they will contain important codes like SBIBNK, SBIINB, SBYONO, ATMSBI, SBI/SB. If you get a message with these codes then it means that it is an official message from the bank.
Cyber fraud will be monitored-
In fact, it often happens that the way the bank messages you, cyber fraud also messages you using the same method, due to which your transaction details get leaked.
The bank never asks for any personal information or OTP from you. The bank anytime asks you for details for KYC. No bank ever asks you to click on any link.
How to detect fake messages
If you want to find out whether the message from the bank is fake or real, then many things have to be kept in mind.
There are no mistakes in the messages sent from banks, whereas there are many mistakes in the fraud messages. This ranges from grammatical mistakes to name mistakes.
Banks or other financial institutions send messages only to their customers, not to everyone. Mostly it has been seen that messages start coming even from the account where you do not have a bank account.
If a message is sent by a bank, the sender’s mobile number is not visible, but the short form of the name of the sending bank is visible.
What kind of fake message is being sent?
A text message is being sent to SBI customers stating that if they do not update their PAN number on the given link, their ‘YONO’ account will be blocked. YONO is the digital banking platform of SBI.
The fake link in the message leads to an SBI page, which asks users to enter sensitive information. When users enter their details on it, their information reaches hackers and they make you a victim of fraud.
