But remember that your SBI Saving Account should be linked to your Aadhar Card Number. Because to open PPF account, OTP comes only on the number linked to the Aadhaar card.

 SBI PPF Account matures in 15 years

  • SBI PPF Account matures in 15 years. While you also get the facility that when your PPF account is about to mature, you can also extend it for a further 5 years. For this, the account has to be increased 1 year before the completion of maturity.
  • When you open a PPF account, you cannot withdraw money from it until the account is 5 years old. If you withdraw money before 15 years, 1% is also deducted from your fund.

Use net banking or YONO app

SBI (State Bank of India) customers can use the bank’s net banking website or YONO app to open a PPF (Public Provident Fund) account online from home.

Process to open PPF account through SBI Net Banking

  • Go to the official website of SBI Net Banking
  • Login by entering username and password
  • Then go to the “Accounts” section
  • Then click on New PPF Account
  • Fill in the required information (name, PAN number, nominee details etc.)
  • Select your branch and submit the form
  • After this, an OTP will come on the mobile. Verify the OTP and confirm the application.
  • After this your PPF account will be opened. Note down the PPF account number.

Process to open PPF account through YONO app

  • Go to the Accounts section of SBI YONO app
  • Select the “Open PPF Account” option
  • Fill in the details and submit
  • Verify through the OTP received on the registered mobile number
  • Your PPF account will be opened successfully
