What argument did the lawyer give?
- Senior advocate Rajasekhar Rao, representing a petition filed by Subramanian Swamy, told the court that he has come here as a devotee and the statement made in the press about adulteration in the prasad may have far-reaching consequences.
- The lawyer said that this could give rise to many other issues and spoil the communal harmony.
- This is a matter of concern. If there is any question mark on the offerings of God, then it should be investigated.
SC gave this order
- While hearing the matter, the Court said that it would be appropriate if the Solicitor General assists us in deciding whether the already appointed SIT should continue or the investigation should be conducted by an independent agency.
- The court then directed the matter to be fixed for 3.30 pm on October 3. The judge told lawyer Luthra that you should tell all your clients to exercise restraint while giving statements.
- The Supreme Court said that the sample may contain soybean oil, but this does not mean that fish oil has been used. The court said that the supplier can be suspected, but it was not right to make such a statement without proof.
- The Supreme Court in its order said that it was of the prima facie view that the investigation was in process and it was not appropriate for CM Naidu to make such a statement which could hurt public sentiments.
What is the Tirupati Laddu controversy?
Actually, it is alleged that during the YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh, animal fat was mixed in the famous Tirupati Laddu Prasadam of Tirumala temple. It was said that after laboratory analysis of samples of cow ghee used in the laddu, animal fat and fish oil were found mixed in it.
