Scheme for Youth: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma has launched a scheme to promote development through self-employment in which youth will be helped to set up their own enterprises.
Scheme for Youth: Many schemes are run by the Central and State Governments for the unemployed. On one hand, a few thousand rupees are given to meet the expenses, but on the other hand, lakhs of rupees are being given to the youth so that they can open some business of their own. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma has launched a scheme to promote development through self-employment in which youth will be helped to set up their own enterprises.
Sharma launched ‘Chief Minister Self-reliant Assam Abhijan 2023’ at a program organized in Guwahati. He has also started a portal to apply for this scheme.
Help will be given to two lakh youth.
The Chief Minister said that under this scheme, financial assistance will be given to two lakh youth to create a strong entrepreneurship ecosystem. Sharma said at the program organized on Saturday, ‘This scheme has been created to create self-employment opportunities which will enable the youth to promote the development of the state. It has the potential to strengthen the rural economy.
These youth will get Rs 5 lakh.
Some category has been prepared by the state government. CM Biswa said that unemployed people holding degrees in the fields of engineering, medicine, agriculture, animal husbandry and fisheries will be kept in the first category and they will be given assistance of Rs 5 lakh. On the other hand, unemployed people who have passed post graduate, general graduate, ITI, polytechnic will be placed in the second category and they will be given assistance of Rs 2 lakh.
What is the process of returning the money?
CM said that in the first category, the beneficiaries will have to return Rs 2.5 lakh out of Rs 5 lakh without any interest while the remaining amount will be government assistance. Sharma said, ‘Similarly, for the beneficiaries in the second category also, out of the entire amount, Rs 1 lakh will be government subsidy while Rs 1 lakh will have to be returned without any interest.’ He further said, ‘Only one member from a family can avail the benefits of this scheme and the applicant will have to register in the employment office.’
