Scholarships For SC/ST/OBC Students: The Government of India has taken many better steps in the field of education for the promising children to move forward. Although every child is the future of the country, but the government makes special efforts for the welfare of such children who come from backward sections of the society.
In this sequence, many scholarship and fellowship programs are run by the Ministry of Social Empowerment and Welfare of the Government of India for the meritorious children of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes, so that there is no hindrance in their higher studies. Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship
Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship is awarded to SC/ST scholars pursuing MPhil and PhD, which covers tuition fees and living expenses. Under this fellowship, MPhil/PhD students in Science, Humanities and Social Sciences get Rs 31,000 per month for the first two years. After this, a fellowship of Rs 35,000 per month is given for 3 years.
National Fellowship for SC/ST and OBC
This fellowship is given to MPhil/PhD scholars in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Under this fellowship which is available for 5 years, JRF gets Rs 37,000 and SRF gets Rs 42,000 every month.
National Overseas Scholarship
SC and ST students aspiring for higher studies from US and UK can get this scholarship. Under this, those studying in the US get 15,400 pounds and those studying in Britain get 9,900 pounds.
Post Matric Scholarship for SC:
These 4 types of students get this scholarship for 10 months.
Group-1 – Available to students doing medicine, engineering, technology, agriculture. Apart from this, those doing PG Diploma in Management, Medicine, CA/ICWA/CS/ICFA or MPhil, PhD and Post Doctoral programs also get Rs 1200 per month. Hostellers get an allowance of Rs 550 and visually impaired people get an allowance of Rs 240.
Group-2 – Those doing degree/diploma from professional fields like pharmacy and nursing get an allowance of Rs 820, hostellers get Rs 530 and visually impaired people get Rs 240 per month allowance.
Group-3 – Those courses of graduation and post-graduation which are not covered in Group-1 and 2 are included. In this, scholarship of Rs 570 per month is given to hostelers, allowance of Rs 300 and visually impaired people get Rs 200 allowance.
Group-4 – Students studying in 12th are given scholarship of Rs 380 per month, hostel allowance of Rs 230 and reader allowance of Rs 160 for visually impaired.
Central Sector Scholarship Scheme for SC Students:
This scholarship is available to SC students, the purpose of which is to give to students doing professional courses like engineering, medicine and management. Under this, students studying in private sector are given up to Rs 2 lakh annually.
