Schools Closed: Amid rising mercury and heat wave, children are facing difficulty in going to school. Schools have been closed for the next one week so that they don’t get harmed by the heatwave.
Schools Closed Due To Heatwave: Nowadays summer is in full swing and there is still time to start summer vacation. In states where schools are closing very early, summer vacations will not start before the month of May. But the way the mercury is rising day by day and the heatwave is increasing, it is not safe for children to go to school in such conditions.
In view of these circumstances, schools in West Bengal have been closed for a week. This rule will be applicable from today i.e. 17th April and will be applicable till 23rd April 2023 i.e. schools will remain closed till this date.
Notice issued
West Bengal School Education Department and Department of Higher Education have passed the order to close the school. This rule applies equally to all schools. That is, along with state-run schools, private schools will also follow this rule. Schools will be reopened from Monday, 24th April or any notice regarding this will be released again. Until a new notice comes, this will be considered as the final order.
The rule will not apply here
This rule will be applicable to all areas of West Bengal only Darjeeling and Kalimpong will not come under its purview as they are hilly areas. The academic schedule which was already running here will continue. Teaching and non-teaching staff can take leave in special cases.
Higher Education Department also issued an order
West Bengal Department of Higher Education has also issued the order. Under this, all the state, government-aided and private universities and colleges here will remain closed for a week. Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts will not come under this rule. Colleges and universities will remain closed from 17 to 23 April 2023 due to heatwave.
