School closure order issued: The period of severe cold continues in Lakhimpur Kheri. The entire district is in the grip of cold wave and fog. In view of the cold, a holiday has been declared in Kasturba Gandhi Residential Schools till January 10. At the same time, children from class six to eight of secondary have been given leave till further orders.
On Saturday, DIOS Dr. Mahendra Pratap Singh and BSA Praveen Kumar Tiwari have issued orders and instructed to follow it. After many days, a blanket of fog was seen once again. Children had to go to school in the dense fog on Saturday morning.
Visibility was zero. Vehicles had to pass with lights on. It was not visible even a short distance. The situation was even worse on highways and rural areas. The minimum temperature dropped to 11 and the maximum was recorded at 18 degrees. The weather department has issued a yellow alert for Sunday.
Due to fog, the sun rays could not reach the ground. Cold winds increased the cold further. People remained confined to their homes on a melting day. Shopkeepers kept trying to reduce the cold by lighting bonfires outside shops etc. Although the municipality has made arrangements for bonfires, but these bonfires are lit only in the evening. People have to shiver throughout the day.
Timings of secondary schools changed in Shahjahanpur
Keeping in mind the severe cold wave in Shahjahanpur, secondary schools will be operated from 10 am to 3 pm. An order has been issued by DM Dharmendra Pratap Singh regarding this. DIOS Harivansh Kumar said that the timings of operation of all secondary schools have been changed. A demand was made by submitting a letter on behalf of the Uttar Pradesh Principal Council regarding this.
People kept shivering in Bareilly
On the other hand, the series of severe cold continued in Bareilly on Saturday as well. There was dense fog in the morning. The sun came out for a while in the afternoon, but proved ineffective due to the cold wind. People kept shivering. The day’s temperature slipped one more step and was recorded seven degrees below normal. As the evening approached, a thick blanket of fog started to cover the city. By 11 pm, visibility was recorded to be zero at many places. Sunday morning also started with fog.
Cold day alert for the next three days
The weather department has issued a cold day alert from January 7 due to the entry of icy winds in the city. Melting will increase. Visibility will be zero due to dense fog. On Saturday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 14 and the minimum temperature at 9.2 degrees Celsius. At the same time, due to fog, vehicles were seen crawling on the roads with headlights on. The weather department has predicted that the cold will continue for the time being.
