School Closed: Due to the sudden rise in temperature, the state government has ordered the closure of all schools from April 12 to 16, 2023. Apart from this, changes have been made in the timing of classes for classes 11 and 12 and colleges.


School Closed: Schools and Anganwadi centers in Odisha have been closed due to the scorching heat. The Odisha government has issued new orders that all schools in the state, whether private or government, will remain closed till April 16, 2023, for students up to class 10. In the new order, the state government has said that from today all Anganwadi centers will also remain closed.

On 11 April 2023, the state government had said that due to the heat wave, the school timings have been revised for the students of class 1 to 12. As per the official notice released, the classes were scheduled from 7 am to 11:30 am.

Due to the sudden rise in temperature, the state government has ordered the closure of all schools from April 12 to 16, 2023. There has been a change in the timing of classes for classes 11 and 12 and colleges. The state government has advised schools, colleges and other educational institutions to be prepared to ensure proper care of students due to the scorching heat.

The issued instructions said, ‘Extra care will have to be taken to ensure the availability of drinking water in schools, colleges and other educational / technical institutions. Adequate ORS should also be kept in schools and colleges and given to students/staff who need it. Outdoor activities have to be restricted so that students are not exposed to heatwave conditions.
