School Holiday: As per the order, except Vidarbha, schools in the state will now open from June 15 while those in Vidarbha will resume from June 30.
MUMBAI: The school education department of the Maharashtra government has declared holidays for all state board schools from Friday, April 21, due to the heat wave. In an order issued by the ‘school education department’ on Thursday, it was said that schools of other boards will be able to follow their syllabus and activities. After considering, a decision can be taken on closing the school. As per the order, except Vidarbha, schools in the state will now open from June 15 while those in Vidarbha will resume from June 30.
14 people lost their lives due to heat wave in Navi Mumbai
Let us tell you that Maharashtra is facing severe heat these days and due to this many people have lost their lives. The havoc of the heat in the state can be gauged from the fact that 14 people died due to heat stroke at the ‘Maharashtra Bhushan’ award function organized in Navi Mumbai, while 7 patients are still hospitalized. An official said that 10 women and 4 men were among the dead. Officials said that the number of people under treatment in the hospital is 7, although earlier in the day this number was said to be 9.
‘Case of culpable homicide should be registered against the government’
Leader of the Opposition in Maharashtra Ajit Pawar on Tuesday demanded registration of a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder against the state government in connection with the deaths of people due to heat stroke at the state award function held in Navi Mumbai on Sunday. In a letter to state Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Pawar said the tragedy was not natural but a man-made disaster and the state government was responsible for it.
The event was held in the open field
Let us tell you that the program was organized in an open ground in Kharghar area of Navi Mumbai on Sunday. A large number of people, mostly followers of Maharashtra Bhushan awardee Appasaheb Dharmadhikari, took part in the event held under the scorching sun. At least 13 people had died due to heatstroke and other health complications during the event on Sunday.
