Winter Vacation, School Holiday: The havoc of cold and fog is being seen in most of the states of North India. In this situation, winter holidays have been declared in many states including UP, Bihar, Delhi, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Haryana, Punjab. In view of the weather in every state, an order will be issued to open schools.

With the beginning of the new year, most of the states of North India are in the grip of cold winds as well as fog. In view of this weather condition, winter vacation was declared in December 2024 itself in most of the states including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Jammu, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh.
Many states had released the holiday calendar for 2025 in December 2024 itself (School Holidays in 2025). However, there was no schedule of winter holidays in it. Actually, various states announce winter vacation according to the weather in their place. Many times there is a difference in the weather of different districts of the same state. Then the state government leaves the decision to reduce or increase the holiday to the District Magistrates. Know for how long will the winter holiday be in which state.
School Holidays: Schools closed in December-January
These days schools are closed in many states including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Jharkhand, Bihar (Winter Vacation in UP Delhi). Some schools had holidays from 25 December and some from 1 January. Where schools were closed in December, there is an order to start classes from January 6 (Schools Closed in January 2025). However, holidays can be extended in view of the weather.
- Uttar Pradesh (Winter Vacation in UP)– In view of the weather of UP, 15 days of holidays have been declared in the schools here. As per the order of the School Education Department, schools will open from January 15.
- Delhi (Delhi School Holidays): An order has been issued to keep the schools of Delhi closed for 15 days. Schools here are expected to open from January 16, 2025.
- Punjab (Punjab Schools Closed): All schools in Punjab were to open from January 1. But in view of the cold wave alert, the holidays have been extended. Now schools in Punjab will remain closed till January 7.
- Rajasthan (Rajasthan Schools): Winter vacation started here from December 25. Schools in Rajasthan will remain closed till January 5, 2025. However, holidays can be extended in view of the weather.
- Haryana (Winter Vacation in Haryana Schools): Fog is wreaking havoc in Haryana adjoining Delhi. An order has been issued to keep schools closed in this state till January 15.
- Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh: All government schools in Jharkhand will open from January 6, 2025. At the same time, schools in Madhya Pradesh are expected to open from January 5.
- Jammu and Kashmir (Jammu Winter Vacation): Everyone is aware of the cold here. Most of the schools in Jammu and Kashmir will remain closed till 28 February 2025.
- Bihar (Schools Closed in Bihar): Winter vacation for classes 1 to 12 in Bihar schools was announced in December. Here the order for holidays was from 25 to 31 December 2024.
