February 24: Guru Ravidas Jayanti
Guru Ravidas Jayanti is celebrated to honour the birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas, a saint and poet of the Bhakti movement. Widely celebrated across North India, the day commemorates his teachings on equality, social justice and devotion. Holidays may be declared in schools in areas with significant celebrations.
February 26: Maha Shivaratri
Maha Shivaratri is one of the most important Hindu festivals dedicated to Lord Shiva. On this day, devotees observe fast, pray, meditate and visit temples to seek blessings. The day, which falls on the 14th day of the new moon in the month of Phalguna, is widely celebrated across India, with schools in many areas remaining closed on the occasion.
