School Holidays: In view of the possibility of fog and melting cold and cold wave on Thursday morning, Director of Basic Education Pratap Singh Baghel issued a letter on Wednesday evening to declare holiday on 16 and 17 January. But, no decision could be taken till late night as to whether the private schools of the city will remain closed in line with this order. Apart from school operators, parents also remained in doubt.
The letter to close government schools and recognized schools up to class VIII under the Basic Education Council was issued late in the evening. The Director of Education had issued this letter addressing all the District Magistrates and Education Officers. In such a situation, it was believed that at the local level, the District Magistrate would comply with the order and issue an order to keep private schools closed as well. But, as no such order was issued, a situation of confusion was created.
Parents remained worried
The principals of private schools as well as education officials were not able to understand what to answer regarding the confusion created about private schools. The principals of schools affiliated to CBSE and ISC board kept refusing to obey the order of the Director of Basic Education till late night. Parents contacted the class teachers in the school but did not get a satisfactory answer.
Parents of children studying in private schools remained worried waiting for a message from the school and kept trying to clarify the situation by calling the offices of newspapers. DIOS Arun Kumar said, the order has not been received from the DM, so he cannot ask for a holiday.
In the afternoon, DM Rakesh Kumar Singh had clarified that the weather is clear, so there is no need to close the schools. At the same time, after the letter was issued in the evening, an attempt was made to clarify the situation but his phone kept showing switched off.
BSA Surjeet Kumar Singh said, the Director of Basic Education has issued an order to close all schools up to class VIII. This order will be applicable in government and recognized schools under basic education. If schools are found open, a notice will be issued to the management and an explanation will be sought.
