Delhi Traffic Police is issuing challans for people traveling without belt on the back seat of the vehicle. On Wednesday, by running a special drive in New Delhi district, 17 challans were issued for not wearing seat belt on the back seat. This campaign was carried out in Barakhamba Road circle from 11 am to 1 pm. A similar campaign will be conducted in the New Delhi area on Thursday as well.
New Delhi: Delhi Traffic Police is now deducting challans of people traveling without wearing seat belt on the back seat of the vehicle. There are many questions in people’s mind regarding this. For example, what if the model of the vehicle is too old and the company has not provided belts on the rear seats? If a child is sitting behind, is it necessary for him to wear a belt as well? If two people are sitting on the back two seats with belts, but the third person sitting in the middle has not belted because there is no belt on the middle seat, then what will happen in such a situation? Traffic police officials have clarified the situation in this regard. It is being told that the Union Transport Ministry will soon issue a notification in this regard and clarify the rules.
Children are required to wear belts
Officials say that if the company itself has not provided seat belt facility on the rear seats of the vehicle, then challan cannot be done, because it will not be considered as the fault of the driver or the people sitting in the vehicle. However, nowadays such vehicles are very few, which do not have a seat belt at the back. Most vehicles have a belt on the back seat too, but people don’t wear them. As far as children are concerned, experts and traffic police advise everyone that whether the child is sitting in the front seat or in the back seat, it is very important to wear a belt for his safety, so that he can get hurt even if he loses his balance. Do not take In this case, people ignore the most and keep walking around in the car without putting on the seat belt. If the child is very small, it would be better if someone sits with him in his lap.
Two belts on the rear seat i.e. the third passenger is not allowed
As far as belting two out of three people sitting at the back is concerned, the car makers design the vehicle keeping in mind the load capacity and provide facilities accordingly. If there are only two belts on the rear seat of the vehicle, it means that the seating capacity of the vehicle only allows two people to sit at the rear. In such a situation, if someone is driving with three people sitting, then it is a different violence in itself. In such a situation, along with seat belt, the challan for overloading can also be deducted.
A new campaign will also start from today
From today the traffic police is also going to start another new campaign. Under this, challans will be deducted for people driving a car with black glass. Action will also be taken against those who put dark black cloth frames on the side windows of their vehicles in the name of shielding them from the sun. Along with this, a special campaign will also be run from today against minors who are driving bikes, scooters or cars without driving license. In such cases, action will also be taken against the person in whose name the vehicle is registered for giving unauthorized person to drive the vehicle.
Penalty not in the form of cash
Special Commissioner of Traffic Police S.S. Yadav says that our aim is not only to cut the challan, but to make more and more people aware about the use of seat belts. Enforcement is also a part of awareness and through that also a message is sent among the people, so now a few challans are also being deducted, but in the coming days as our campaign progresses, we will also give more emphasis on enforcement . New Delhi DCP (Traffic) Aalap Patel said that none of the 17 people whose challans were issued on Wednesday were fined in the form of cash. Under Section 194-B of the Motor Vehicle Act, court challans are being issued to all such people, in which there is a provision of fine of 1000 rupees.
