in December 2018, in the assembly elections, Pradyuman Singh Lodhi defeated BJP candidate Lalita Yadav. Uma Bharti became the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh for the first time in 2003, when she was elected MLA from Bada Malhra seat.

Imrati Devi, Rajwardhan Singh, Raksha Saronia, Mahendra Singh Sisodia, OPS Bhadoria, Ranvir Jatav, Govind Singh Rajput, Pradyuman Singh Tomar, Raghuraj Singh Kansana, Giraj Dandotia, Munnalal Goyal, Jasmant, Manot Chaudhary, Adal Singh Kansana, Bisahulal Singh, Prabhuram Chaudhary, Jajpal Singh, Suresh Dhakad, Kamlesh Jatav, Tulsi Silavat, Brijendra Singh Yadav and Hardeep Singh left the Congress and joined the BJP on March 23.
Banwari Lal Sharma, Congress MLA from Jaura seat in Morena district, who was vacant after the demise of two seats legislators, died on 21 December 2019. On January 30 this year, BJP MLA from Agar-Malwa Manohar Camel also passed away due to illness.
