It means to say that now senior citizens can double their deposits. Explain that under this scheme, the government gives 8% interest. Under this the depositors can extend for another period of three years after the maturity period of 5 years.

At the same time, the Post Office Monthly Income Scheme has been increased to Rs 9 lakh for single account and Rs 15 lakh for joint accounts. The Finance Minister has proposed Mahila Samman Savings Certificate (MSSC) for a period of 2 years. It will provide women a deposit facility of Rs 2 lakh at 7.5% interest for two years with partial withdrawal facility
