Big Setback For Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi High Court Pauses Bail Order

Arvind Kejriwal Bail: The Delhi High Court has currently stayed the bail granted to CM Arvind Kejriwal by the lower court in the money laundering case related to the Delhi liquor policy.

Arvind Kejriwal Bail: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has suffered a setback in the money laundering case related to Delhi liquor policy. Against Kejriwal’s bail plea, the Delhi High Court said that the lower court’s order will remain stayed until the hearing is over. That means Kejriwal will not be released from Tihar Jail until the High Court hears the case.

Delhi High Court allows immediate hearing on ED’s plea against bail granted to Arvind Kejriwal. High Court said, “Until we hear the case, the lower court’s order will not be effective.”

What argument did ED and Arvind Kejriwal give?

ED filed a petition in the High Court and argued that we did not get a chance to present our case in the lower court. In response to this, Kejriwal’s lawyer said that it is not right to say this.

In fact, on Thursday (June 20, 2024), the lower court had granted bail to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal in a case related to the Delhi Excise Policy. In such a situation, Kejriwal could have come out of Tihar Jail on Friday (June 21, 2024), but the High Court has put a stay on it till the hearing.

Who argued what?

On Thursday, the ED argued in the court that Kejriwal is connected with the alleged proceeds of crime and co-accused. At the same time, Kejriwal’s lawyer said that the central investigation agency has no evidence regarding this. In such a situation, bail should be granted.

What is the allegation?

ED has claimed that Arvind Kejriwal is the main conspirator of the mess in Delhi’s liquor policy. Many other AAP leaders have also been involved in this whole matter. AAP denied this and said that all this is happening as a result of political revenge.

What did AAP say?

AAP leader Atishi and other leaders said on ED’s claim that Kejriwal has been arrested as part of revenge politics, but people are with us. We will answer this. Kejriwal was arrested by ED on March 21.
