SIM cards issued on the basis of fake documents can be used for cyber fraud. Due to this you may have to face a big problem. The Department of Telecommunications has released a video on the social media platform to tell people about how to avoid it.
DoT told in one of its ex-post that cyber criminals can issue SIM cards by misusing your documents. These fake SIM cards can be used for cyber fraud. To avoid this, it can be used for cyber fraud. If you think there is a number that you do not use and is active in your name, then you should report it immediately. For this, you can go to the Sanchar Saathi portal and app launched by the Central Government.
How to find out about fake SIM
The Department of Telecommunications told in its video that for this you have to go to the Sanchar Saathi (https://sancharsaathi.gov.in/) portal. After this, you will have to follow the instructions and remove the fake SIM card issued in your name.
Follow these steps
1. First of all go to the web portal or app of Sanchar Sathi
2. Here you will get the option of Know Mobile Connections in Your Name
3. On clicking this option, a new window of TAFCOP will open for the users
4. Enter your mobile number and captcha here
5. After this, enter the OTP received on your number and log in to the portal
6. Here you will get the details of all the SIM cards issued in your name
7. After this, if you see any fake number in your name, then request to remove it by marking it as Not Required
8. After the Department of Telecommunications and telecom companies receive the request, action will be taken on that number issued in your name and it will be blocked.
