The Department of Telecommunications has tightened the rules for issuing new mobile SIMs (Mobile SIM Issuance Rules). The government believes that this will stop the forgery of SIMs. At the same time, due to KYC being completely digital, now customers will not have to submit any documents anymore.



New Delhi. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has made changes in the new SIM Issuance Rules for the convenience of the customers. Under this, along with getting a new SIM, the need to fill a physical form to convert prepaid to postpaid or postpaid to prepaid has been done away with. Now customers will be able to get this work done easily by filling the digital form. In the meeting of the Union Cabinet, the Central Government has approved this decision. Let us tell you that recently the Department of Telecommunications had also changed the KYC rules.

According to the new rules of the Department of Telecom, if you want to get a new mobile number or telephone connection, then KYC will be completely digital. In other words, you will not have to submit any document for the new SIM. At the same time, no form will have to be filled for getting the postpaid number prepaid and prepaid to postpaid. For this digital KYC will be considered valid. For this, customers will do self-KYC with the help of the telecom company’s app. For this, they have to pay only Re. Customers can complete this work in just a few steps through the website or app.




 

Complete Self KYC Process in 5 Steps
1. Download the SIM provider’s app. Then register with your phone.
2. Give the number of your second or any person in your family.
3. After that login with the help of One Time Password (OTP).
4. Select the option of Self KYC in this. Complete the process by filling in the information.

If the age is less than 18 years, then the SIM will not be available.

According to the new rules of the Department of Telecommunications, now telecom operators will not issue SIM cards to people below the age of 18 years. At the same time, if the mental state of a person is not good, then there will be a ban on issuing SIM cards. If a SIM card is issued to such a person, then the telecom company will be held guilty. Actually, to get a new SIM, one has to fill the Customer Acquisition Form (CAF). This is a contract between the customer and the company. There are many conditions in this form.

This contract is enforced under the Indian Contract Law 1872. Under this law, any contract should be between people over the age of 18. A person in India can buy a maximum of 12 SIMs in his own name. Out of this, 9 SIM can be used for mobile calling. While 9 SIM can be used for machine-to-machine communication.
