New Sim Card Rules: If you also have more than one SIM, then you also need to be alert. If it is lost and you have not complained? Have you taken a SIM in someone else’s name or someone else has taken a SIM on your ID? So strict action can be taken against you. The government has implemented new and strict SIM card rules to prevent fake SIM cards and fraud. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and the Department of Telecom (DoT) have taken a big step towards providing security to the public by deactivating thousands of fake mobile numbers.

Thousands of numbers deactivated

The main objective of the new rules is to prevent fraud through fake calls and SMS. TRAI has shut down a large number of fake mobile numbers, which will give relief to customers from fraud.

Strict action against fraudsters

Now taking a SIM card in someone else’s name or using a fake SIM will be considered a crime. Strict action will be taken against the culprits in such cases. They will be punished as a threat to cyber security.

Three-year blacklist

Individuals using fake SIM cards will be blacklisted for three years. All their active SIM cards will be blocked and they will be banned from getting a new SIM for six months to three years.

Blacklist database will be prepared

From 2025, the government will share the information of fake SIM card users with all telecom companies. It will be ensured that SIM cards are not issued again in the name of these persons. A database will be prepared and notices will be sent to the persons involved. They will have to respond within seven days.

Security and convenience for the public

Under the new rules, customers will be able to avoid fake calls and fraud. This step of the government is a big improvement towards bringing security and transparency in digital service.
