The real truth is something else
PIB fact-checked it and said that a news article circulating on social media claimed that TRAI has issued new guidelines regarding SIM cards that remain valid for 90 days even if recharge is not done. At the same time, such things have been said in social media and many news articles. Whereas in reality there is nothing like this.
Telecom companies do not provide any such service. In which the facility of keeping the SIM active is available for only 20 rupees. TRAI has also clarified in this regard that there is no such rule. In which the facility of keeping the SIM active is available for only 20 rupees.

What was the matter
Actually, it was told in many places that if a SIM remains deactivated for 90 days and it still has prepaid balance, then Rs 20 will be deducted for extending the activation of the SIM for an additional 30 days. If there is no balance, the SIM will be considered completely deactivated.
Which makes it difficult to make / receive calls or access the internet. After deactivation, the number associated with the SIM will be recycled and made available to the new user. However, now its truth has come to light.
The price of this plan has been reduced
Recently, Jio introduced a plan of Rs 1958, which offered unlimited calling and 3600 SMS for the whole year (365 days). However, after TRAI’s action, Jio has introduced a new plan priced at Rs 1748. The validity of this updated plan is 336 days. It still includes 3600 SMS and unlimited calling.
