New Delhi: The Department of Telecommunications has ordered to re-verify the SIM of customers having more than 9 SIM cards and to stop the SIM in case of non-verification. For Northeast including Jammu and Kashmir and Assam, this number is of 6 SIM cards.
Will have to verify again
According to the order issued by the Department of Telecom, in case of customers having more SIM cards than allowed, they will be given the option to keep the SIM of their choice and turn off the balance. “During the analysis done by the department, if a subscriber is found to have more than the prescribed number of SIM cards of all telecom service providers, all SIMs will be re-verified,” the department said.
So step taken
The Department of Telecom has taken this step to investigate the incidents of financial crimes, objectionable calls, automated calls and fraudulent activities.
Telecom companies take action
The department has asked telecom companies to remove all those mobile numbers from the database which are not in use as per the rules.
