The central government can provide a budget of Rs 3.20 lakh crore to the Railways to run trains at semi-high speed. With this money, development works like production of sleeper Vande Bharat train coaches, installation of anti-collision technology-armor on railways, construction of coach-engine of Amrit Bharat train, construction of new line, doubling, gauge conversion etc. will be done.

Sleeper Vande Bharat till March

Railway Board officials said that coach construction is going on at a fast pace at ICF, Chennai to run the sleeper Vande Bharat train by March. Sleeper Vande Bharat trains will be run in place of Railways’ premium Rajdhani Express trains. Whereas Vande Bharat trains are already being run in place of Shatabdi Express. Currently more than 80 Vande Bharat trains are running. He said that the number of both types of Vande Bharat trains will be increased to provide fast, safe and comfortable travel to the general public.


Number of Amrit Bharat trains will increase

Railways will produce coaches and new engines to increase the number of Amrit Bharat trains with pull-push technology. The total capital expenditure in the last general budget was Rs 2.60 lakh crore. There may be a provision for capital expenditure of Rs 3.20 lakh crore in the interim budget to be presented on February 1. This is about 33 percent more than the same period last year. The official said that Rs 1,95,929.97 crore (75 percent) has been spent from capital expenditure till December 2023.

He said that with the budgetary support of Rs 3.20 lakh crore, work will be done to install anti-collision technology armor on Delhi-Mumbai, Delhi-Kolkata and other busy railways. Apart from this, improvements will be made to run Vande Bharat trains at semi high speed (160-200 kilometers per hour) on both the above mentioned railways.

Speed of passenger trains will pick up

For the first time in the country, there is a plan to run Vande Bharat trains at semi-high speed on these two railways. Apart from this, with this budgetary assistance, works to strengthen the railway infrastructure like new railway lines, doubling of lines, tripling, gauge conversion etc. will be done. This will increase the speed of passenger trains.
