Qualcomm is apparently busy working on a Snapdragon 865 Plus chip for this year and it’s AnTuTu gains have been noticed online.

If you want to buy the ultimate Android smartphone, you need to make sure that it has the Snapdragon 865 chip. Qualcomm’s current flagship chip is the best Android phones have seen yet and as we have seen on some of the flagship phones this year, there’s nothing it cannot handle. However, Qualcomm isn’t sitting idle and it seems that an enhanced version of the Snapdragon 865 is coming our way soon.

A leaked screenshot of an AnTuTu listing shows the alleged Snapdragon 865 Plus scoring much higher than what we have seen so far with the Snapdragon 865-powered smartphones. The screenshot comes from Really Assen on Weibo, the tipster who has given some other recent tips about other devices. As Gizmochina reports, this could be the real Snapdragon 865 Plus flexing its muscle.

The new chip managed to score 667,253, which is a huge leap over the Snapdragon 865. For example, the Oppo FInd X2 Pro with the Snapdragon 865 was the top scorer on AnTuTu with 604,123 points in the month of May. Hence, the performance gains are substantial depending on the posted score.

The Snapdragon 865 Plus is expected to debut on the rumoured Lenovo Legion gaming smartphones, which itself is supposed to have many of the firsts in the smartphone industry. The same tipster has suggested that the Legion gaming phone will have an 80W fast charging system, which is more than what Oppo manages to offer with its SuperVOOC 2.0 fast-charging system.

That said, the world of tech rumours did silence all possibilities of the Snapdragon 865 Plus a couple of months ago. It was said that Qualcomm is focused on working on the Snapdragon 875 by the end of this year and there are some notable benefits coming with the next-gen chip. Most importantly, it is expected that the Snapdragon 875 will have an integrated 5G modem instead of requiring a separate 5G modem.

As of now, Qualcomm hasn’t hinted at anything and hence, it is best to take this leak with a pinch of salt. The screenshot does mention that the scores are taken from a rooted device. Moreover, it could be one of those prototype devices testing Qualcomm’s next-gen chip.

Currently, the most powerful Android smartphones you can buy consist of the Oppo Find X2 Pro, Oppo Find X2 and the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro in the top three as per AnTuTu’s scores. In India, you can already buy the Xiaomi Mi 10 while the Oppo Find X2 series is supposed to launch soon.
