SpiceJet to start flights to UK from next month

Budget airline SpiceJet has got a ‘slot at London’s Heathrow Airport. This will enable the airline to start flights to London from next month. SpiceJet said in a communication sent to the stock exchanges that ‘it has got these slots under the Air Bubble Agreement. After international flights start, it will be expanded to allow for regular flight service.



 

Air bubble is a bilateral arrangement in which airlines of two countries can operate international flights with certain regulations and regulations. SpiceJet said, “It has got a slot at Heathrow Airport to operate flights from September 1.” It is under a bubble agreement between India and Britain. It will be effective till the end of summer schedule i.e. 23 October.

The airline said it will be expanded after regular operations begin. All international commercial flights to India have been closed since March 22 due to the Kovid-19 epidemic. However, more charter flights are being operated to bring its citizens stranded in other countries during this period. SpiceJet said it is in the advanced stage of negotiations to take up the slot for regular operations in the winter timetable. The winter schedule for airlines in India starts on the last Saturday of October and ends in the last of March.
