SpiceJet will not be able to sell cheap ticket of 899 rupees, the regulator said the government has the right to fix the fare

SpiceJet will no longer be able to sell cheap tickets for Rs 899. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has directed SpiceJet to stop its five-day ticket sale that began on Monday. The reason for this is due to the government setting a limit on air travel fares since domestic flights were resumed after May 25.

 



SpiceJet announced a five-day 1 + 1 sale on Monday. Explain that under this, the company has offered a ticket for one-way domestic travel at a minimum base fare of Rs 899. In addition, the company had also announced a flight voucher for passengers to buy tickets free.

SpiceJet’s cell against DGCA directive

SpiceJet’s cell company is against the DGCA directive that the price of the flight voucher will be the same as the base fare of the booked ticket. The customer will get a maximum voucher of Rs 2,000 per booking whenever booking a ticket under this sale offer. This voucher can be used for booking tickets in future. This voucher will be valid till 15 October 2020.



 

On Monday afternoon, the DGCA directed SpiceJet to stop its sale, noting the government’s order to fix the fare limit. The government, in its order, has fixed a minimum fare of Rs 2,000 for the shortest distance flights. A SpiceJet spokesperson said that we are already following the DGCA guidelines.

 



DGCA had fixed the fare in seven categories

The Ministry of Civil Aviation issued an order to set the domestic air travel fare limit for airlines on May 21, before commencing air travel from May 25 in the country. Seven categories were created for this. The deadline for restricting fares was earlier fixed till 24 August which was later extended to 24 November. Under this, flights of 40 minutes or less were kept in the first category.

 



The minimum fare was fixed at Rs 2,000.

The minimum fare for this was fixed at Rs 2,000 and maximum Rs 6,000. Similarly, Rs 2,500-7,500 for 40 to 60 minutes, Rs 3,000-9,000 for 60-90 minutes, Rs 3,500-10,000 for 90-120 minutes, Rs 4,500-13,000 for 120-150 minutes, 150 A limit of Rs 5,500-15,700 for 180 minutes and Rs 6,500 to 18,600 for 180-210 minutes flight.
