Lucknow : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will distribute free smartphones and tablets to final year students of various courses on December 25 (birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee).
These students will get priority
In the first phase, Yogi will give free mobiles and tablets to one lakh final year youth at Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Bajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
A large number of students and girls from every district of the state will participate in the program. According to a government release, Chief Minister Adityanath has announced to give free smart mobile phones and tablets to one crore youths.
Under this, in the first phase, on December 25, 60 thousand mobile phones and 40 thousand tablets will be distributed.
According to the statement, in the first phase, students of MA, BA, BSc, ITI, MBBS, MD, BTech, MTech, PhD, MSME and skill development courses, etc., who are studying in the final year, will get priority.
38 lakh youth have registered
Kumar Vineet, Special Secretary, IT and Electronics Department said that more than 38 lakh youth have been registered on the ‘Digi Shakti’ portal.
Student registration is still going on. He said that the government has placed orders for the supply of mobile phones and tablets to well-known companies like Lava, Samsung and Acer, whose supply will start before December 24.
According to the statement, an order of about Rs 2,035 crore has been placed for mobiles and tablets in the first phase.
With this amount, 1.5 lakh mobile phones have been purchased at the rate of Rs 10,740 and 7.20 lakh tablets at the rate of Rs 12,606, which will be supplied by the companies soon.
