Stock Market Holidays 2024: There will be 14 trading holidays for Stock Exchange NSE and BSE in the new year 2024. That is, the stock markets are going to remain closed for 14 days due to festivals and national holidays. BSE’s holiday list shows that the first holiday of the year will be before the weekend.

The market will remain closed on Friday, January 26 due to Republic Day holiday. Similarly, the next three holidays falling in March will be in March. This includes Mahashivratri on March 8 (Friday), Holi on March 25 (Monday) and Good Friday on March 29.

Two markets each will remain closed in April, July and November. There will be no market holidays in February and September. Eid-ul-Fitr (Ramzan Eid) and Ram Navami will fall on April 11 (Thursday) and April 17 (Wednesday) while Maharashtra Day will fall on May 1 (Wednesday). Markets will remain closed on June 17 (Monday) due to Bakrid. Muharram will be celebrated on 17th July. Independence Day on 15 August will fall on Thursday, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti (2 October) on Wednesday.

The market will remain closed on 1st November on the occasion of Diwali, there will be a special Muhurat trading on this day. Gurunanak Jayanti will be celebrated on Friday, 15th November, due to which there will be a long holiday. Finally, the market will remain closed on December 25 (Wednesday) for the Christmas holiday.

Commodity Market Holidays

There are five full day trading holidays for the commodity derivatives market – Republic Day, Good Friday, Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti and Christmas. On the remaining holidays mentioned for the equity segment, the commodity market will open for trading in the evening session. The commodity derivatives market will be closed for trading in the evening session on New Year’s Day, January 1.
