NEET UG 2024: The Supreme Court today, Thursday, June 13, heard again the petition seeking cancellation and re-conduct of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – UG (NEET UG) 2024. In this petition, a ban has also been demanded on NEET UG Counseling 2024. Earlier also, another petition with similar demands was heard on Tuesday, June 11.
NEET UG 2024: Candidates demanding cancellation and re-conduct of NEET UG 2024 entrance exam have once again been disappointed. During the hearing on the related petition today, June 13, the division bench once again refused to stay the counseling process. Also, the apex court has ordered the National Examination Agency (NTA) to file its reply within 2 weeks. Apart from this, the division bench has now directed to hear all the related cases together on July 8.
NEET UG 2024: Re-examination for 1563 candidates
During the hearing in the Supreme Court, the bench was informed by the NTA that the examination will be conducted again for the 1563 candidates who have been given grace marks. This examination can be conducted on June 23 and the results will be released in a week i.e. by June 30. However, if a candidate does not want to appear in this examination, then the final rank will be determined on the basis of his actual marks.
Let us tell you that the petition seeking cancellation and re-conduct of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – UG (NEET UG) 2024 conducted by the National Examination Agency (NTA) on June 4 for medical, dental, AYUSH and nursing undergraduate admission was to be heard again in the Supreme Court today i.e. Thursday, June 13. This petition was to be heard by the Summer Special Bench of Supreme Court judges Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Sandeep Mehta from 10.30 am today.
NEET UG 2024: Demand to stop counseling as well
In view of the alleged paper leak incident in the NEET UG 2024 examination and the alleged irregularities found after the release of the results, the petitioners have through this petition urged the Supreme Court to order the NTA to conduct the examination and re-conduct it. Apart from this, a demand has also been made in this petition to stop the counseling to be conducted by the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) of the Union Ministry of Health for the admission of more than 13 lakh candidates declared successful in NEET UG 2024.
NEET UG 2024: Hearing was also held on June 11
Earlier this week, during the hearing of another petition in the Supreme Court on Tuesday, June 11, the apex court had ordered the NTA to give its response in view of the allegations of paper leak. However, the vacation bench of Supreme Court judges Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Ehsanuddin Amanullah, hearing the case, refused to stay NEET UG Counseling 2024. The next hearing on this petition seeking cancellation and re-conduct of the exam is now scheduled on July 8, 2024.
