Swiggy food order new charges: Big news! Now customers will have to pay this extra charge on ordering food

Swiggy Latest News: It was told by the company that additional charge is being imposed on food orders only on the main platform. This charge will not apply to Instamart users.


Swiggy Platform Fee: If you also order lunch or dinner through Swiggy, then this news may shock you. Online food delivery platform Swiggy has started charging users a platform fee of Rs 2 for each food order irrespective of the cart value. It was told by the company that additional charge is being imposed on food orders only on the main platform. This charge will not apply to Instamart users.

A nominal fee on food orders

After this change, a Swiggy spokesperson said that the platform fee is a nominal flat fee charged on food orders. This fee helps us operate and improve our Platform. It was told in the previous report that Swiggy claimed that it has received more than one and a half to two million orders in a day. People in Hyderabad ordered 1 million plates of biryani and 4 lakh plates of haleem on food-delivery platform Swiggy during Ramzan.

Delivered 33 million plates of idlis

In March, the online food delivery platform said it delivered 33 million plates of idlis in the last 12 months. This shows the immense popularity of this South Indian dish among the customers. Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai were the top three cities where the maximum number of idlis were ordered. On an average, the company has over 2.5 lakh restaurant partners on its platform. Typically around 10,000 restaurants are onboarded every month.


Swiggy to create 10,000 jobs

Swiggy and Apna, a leading professional networking platform for gig workers, announced a partnership to create 10,000 jobs for online food delivery platform quick commerce grocery service Instamart this year. According to market research firm Redseer, the quick commerce domain is expected to reach $5.5 billion by 2025, up from $0.3 billion in 2021. This will increase the demand to appoint more distribution partners.

Kedar Gokhale, Vice President, Operations, Swiggy said, “Given Swiggy’s presence in over 500 cities for food delivery and over 25 cities for Instamart, we continue to focus on onboarding partners from Tier 2 and 3 cities . The partnership with Apna has helped us grow our delivery fleet to meet the growing demand for Instamart in smaller cities.
