Tata Sky said that set-top boxes (STBs) made in India will help in generating a large number of jobs. At the same time, to satisfy the quality of STB, the box is checked time and again from the plant till the time of sale.
Tata Sky in association with Technicolor Connected Home and Flextronics has launched the first batch of Made in India set-top boxes in the market. According to a joint statement, Tata Sky’s partner company Technicolor Connected Home (TCH) had joined hands with Flextronics to manufacture these set-top boxes in the country. According to the company, the manufacturing of these set-top boxes was started in Chennai during June 2021.
‘STBs are repeatedly tested for better quality’
Tata Sky Managing Director and CEO Harit Nagpal said that the set-top boxes made in India will help in generating a large number of jobs. The boxes are repeatedly checked for quality satisfaction from the plant to the point of sale. He hoped that this effort will help us in serving the Indian consumers better. The project builds on the long-standing partnership between Tata Sky and Technicolor Connected Homes. Let us tell you that a few months back, Tata Sky had announced to manufacture set-top boxes for DTH service in India under the ‘Make in India’ initiative of the government.

compete with Airtel, DishTV and d2h Tata Sky, which provides DTH services in India, competes directly with Airtel, DishTV and d2h. The company offers STBs like Tata Sky HD Box, Tata Sky 4K, Tata Sky Plus HD and Android TV powered Tata Sky Binge Plus. Consumers of Tata Sky Binge Plus can enjoy many OTT services like Disney+ Hotstar, Amazon Prime. Tata Sky said that the quality of the STB made in India will compete with the set-top boxes available till date. We will also provide new options to our new and old customers.
What will be the cost of Made in India set-top box
Tata Sky HD set-top box (STBs Prices) is priced at Rs 1,499, while Tata Sky Binge Plus has been priced at Rs 2,499. The company said that the price of STB made in India will be lower for new customers. At the same time, upgrading old customers will reduce its price. Louis MartÃnez Amago, president of Technicolor Connected Homes, said that the importance of local manufacturing and distribution has increased amid the difficulties caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
